1+1/2 cups Plain Flour
1/2 cup Cacao Powder
1/2 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/4 teaspoon Instant Espresso Powder
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1+1/2 cups Buttermilk
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter – melted
In a bowl, add the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cacao powder, instant espresso and sugar.
Mix to combine and set aside.
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, butter, eggs and vanilla for about 1 minute or until well mixed.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and just mix them enough to combine but don’t over mix.
Let it sit for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Lightly grease the waffle maker with either cooking spray or vegetable oil.
Cook the waffles according to the directions on the waffle iron.
All waffle irons are different so the amount you should add to it and how long you cook it for will vary.
Serves 6 depending on the size of your waffle iron.
